Hotel Casanna is owner-operated and features 26 individual guest rooms. It is located in a central area near the congress centre. The 3-star hotel has been completely renovated and modernised over the past few years and provides its guests with a clean and elegant standard. High-end furnishings, soft colours, interior decor and a timbered interior largely from local origin - all of it give the hotel a homely feel and a comfortable atmosphere. Hotel guests can relax in a well-tended garden with shady trees and sunloungers.
In the summer, the hotel provides its guests free access to all mountain railways from the first night. In winter, there is a free lift pass for every guest staying overnight until Christmas. The location of the Casanna is perfect for winter athletes who like skiing or cross-country skiing.
The host and his team place a high value on personal contact with their guests: with much knowledge and experience, they give each guest an individual consultation upon request - an outstanding service needed for a relaxing and carefree stay. See it to believe it!
The local from Samedan has grown up in his family's hotels in Davos (Waldhotel) and Sils Maria (Schweizerhof). After graduating from the commercial college in Neuchâtel and also training in finance, he decided to return to the hotel business.
With a variety of seasonal positions in the 5-star hotel business in St. Moritz, Zurich and in Ticino, he wanted to become independent as early as possible. While still in his youth, he decided to buy the Hotel Casanna. In the autumn of 1987, the hotel was in poor condition and had hardly a solid clientele. To change this was a welcome challenge for Philippe Rusch.
From 1996, renovations and extensions followed at regular intervals: These included not only the comfortable amenities in the guest area but also a practical and professional infrastructure of the kitchen and utility rooms. Providing a pleasant and functional workplace for his employees is very important to Philippe Rusch.
Today he mostly runs the hotel with employees with whom he has worked for a long time. They are his extended arm, and without their motivated commitment, the success of the Casanna would not be possible, according to Rusch.
The property itself had been built in 1909 as a residential building. In summer of 1932, it became the guesthouse "Surpunt". After various name changes, the name "Hotel Casanna" appeared for the first time in the year 1960, named after the mountain Casanna (2557m above sea level) in the Parsenn area. Fundamental extensions and alterations to the building during 1973 and also from 1998 to 2001 followed: A modern infrastructure and a contemporary ambiance began to form the current appearance of the 3-star hotel in Davos Platz.
